Few locations in the UK rival the dramatic landscapes of The Lake District, or The Lakes. England’s largest National Park is now a World Heritage Site and there is so much to see and do, to get the full experience we highly recommend exploring in an Easicampers campervan or motorhome.

Situated in the North West of England, The Lake District is home to Scafell Pike; the largest mountain in the UK and one of the National Three Peaks, along with the Windermere and Wastwater lakes which are known to be two of the longest and deepest in the country. Literary buffs can see William Wordsworth’s name carved into his old school desk at Hawkshead Grammar, or visit Dove Cottage and The Wordsworth Museum, the former home of the poet; another popular attraction is Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter, kept as a time capsule of her life this charming 17th century farmhouse displays thousands of personal artefacts and written works.

If you are planning a holiday to The Lakes, Easicampers recommend you take a mixture of clothing to suit all weathers. Due to its mountainous location, it is the dampest part of the UK and gets more than 2000mm of annual precipitation as recorded by the MET office (an interesting fact about The Lake District is that it contains the only land within the UK that is situated more than 3000 miles above sea level!). Don’t let that dampen your spirits though, if you do happen to get caught in a downpour, you can always take a hot shower in your Easicampers motorhome to warm up!

Walking is the number one activity in The Lakes, and with the spectacular surrounding scenery, its easy to see why! There are trails available to suit all abilities, from experts to novices and even wheelchair accessible routes which avoid stiles and steep climbs. As well as on-land activities, you can also choose to get out on the water. Why not hire a boat on any of the lakes? You can hire rowing boats and electric boats and there’s also a great choice of water sports on offer. Try your hand at canoeing or rafting, taster sessions are available at most lakes and can be great fun for the entire family.

After an activity packed day, resisting the elements with a camping stove before sleeping on the hard floor of a tent may not seem to appealing. With your ‘hotel on wheels’ campervan or motorhome you can unwind with a chilled glass of wine and a home cooked meal at your dining table, before retiring to your comfortable fitted bed ready to do it all again the next day!
