What better way to spend the week watching the world’s top golfers such as Rory Mcilroy, Dustin Johnson, and Jordan Speith take on the wild links this Irish Sea course has to offer, than hiring a Motorhome from our Liverpool depot and enjoy a relaxing week in one of our fantastic vehicles.

Pick up your motorhome from our Liverpool airport branch and head north for an hour’s drive to the seaside town of Southport. This lovely seaside town is an ideal base located within 5 minutes of the golf course.

Before you head to your motorhome base for the week head into the town and enjoy fish & chips on the sea front or take a ride on the famous Silcock’s Carousel a fixture in the town for over a 100 years.

There are quaint little arcades which are home to bespoke shops and major retailers in the centre of the town. Take a walk down the Victorian pier which is the second longest in Great Britain at 1,112 metres long. Buy some rock from one of the many souvenir shops on the Main street and get all your supplies for the week in your hire vehicle from one of the many local supermarkets.

History of the British Open at Royal Birkdale

This year the R & A British Open returns to the North West coast of England and arrives at Royal Birkdale on the 17th – 23rd July. This is the tenth time the event has taken place on this fantastic old links golf course since its inception in 1860.

At the beginning of the week the players have their practice rounds and get used to the wild winds that whistle through the sand dunes here. The main action gets underway on Thursday morning at around 6am with the avid fan getting up early to get the best seats for the day. The final days play gets underway on Sunday morning with the winner normally finishing his round at roughly 17:00pm.
Who will be victorious in the 3rd major golf tournament of the year and will you be there to watch them pick up the Claret Jug.

Your motorhome will be your place to be for the week after watching the golf take a stroll down Ainsdale Beach and back to your site for the week at Willow Bank Holiday home and Touring Park the site is just over a 3 mile walk away or jump on one of the many public transport facilities to get you to the golf course.

On site there are all the services you would need to make it a comfortable stay and an enjoyable experience in one of our motorhomes. There are seasonal pitches so if you’re lucky enough to get a nice summer week you might get a nice pitch, there are hook up points for the motorhome and there are fully serviced pitches with waste water point to empty the motorhome. There are laundry services on site so if its rained whilst watching the golf (which is quite possible) you won’t have to keep hold of your wet clothes for the rest of the week. There are local shops within a mile walk from site as well as the rolling dunes of Ainsdale Beach.

Whilst in this wonderful area of nature conservation take a trip to the National Trust site of Formby Point watch out for the red squirrels jumping around the tree tops and running around your feet. After a nice walk return to your motorhome and relax with a nice warm shower and sit outside your hire vehicle on one of our table and chair sets which you can hire from us with your booking.
