Winter in the Lake District

Why not hire a motor home from our depot in Wigan and take a scenic trip through the Lake District National Park. A county famous for its abundance of lakes and the children’s book’s Peter Rabbit and Friends written by Beatrix Potter who loved the Lake District so much she moved from London to live there.

One of the first stops on your trip in your motorhome you should make through the scenic countryside is to stop off in Kendal a nice local but bustling little shopping town which is home to the famous Kendal Mint cake. Park your motorhome up and wander down the narrow streets and have a bag of fish and chips sat beside the River Kent which meanders its way past Kendal Castle.

Even during winter this little town is very busy, so it is an idea to get there early to find a space for your motorhome and park up for the day. Whilst in Bowness you could either take a trip on a pleasure steamer on Lake Windermere which is the largest in the Lake District or take a trip to Beatrix Potter World a small but informative attraction for the young and old.

Take your motorhome on a trip to the northern Lake District town of Keswick on your way park up get the wellies out wrap up warm and take a walk up Helvellyn Mountain range to get the most spectacular views of this great county.
